It gives me great pleasure to be able to celebrate the 30th anniversary of MRANTI. From its ambitious inception three decades ago as Technology Park Malaysia through to its transition just over three years ago as Malaysia's principal technology accelerator and commercialization driver for Malaysian led research, discoveries and innovations. I've had the privilege of meeting and working with so many people in TPM, MaGIC and Platcom Ventures, collectively now MRANTI, who have had the vision, the passion, to make this dream grow over the last 30 years. Collectively they have sowed the seeds and created the foundation for all that we are today. We are now in the phase of change, learning from the past and focusing forward on a mission driven agenda. It's not the easiest of times to talk about change or evolution, but it is the precise time that we must talk about the future. Despite geopolitical and environmental uncertainties what is certain is that innovations in science and technology will help us build a more stable future for the coming generations and for the health of our planet. At MRANTI we have the responsibility of curating and driving outcomes in selected domains of technology towards adoption and impact for Malaysia's industry and ultimately for the people not just in Malaysia but for the world. Being part of MRANTI means operating in that space between dream and proof. A space where ideas move beyond beautiful slides to real-world application. What I'm most proud of is seeing that transition happen in ways that are both tangible and close to home. When a homegrown solution like the Smart Ward system by BNetworks is deployed in leading private hospitals, or when a portable dental chair by Waterbay enables healthcare providers to reach underserved communities, it signals something important, that we are no longer just building technology. We are building trust in Malaysian brands, delivering solutions that meet people where they are needed most. Through one of MOSTI initiatives led by MRANTI, the MySTI Programme, this takes on an even deeper meaning. By recognising and accelerating the adoption of local innovations through certification and government uptake, it becomes more than a programme. It becomes a statement of confidence. In many ways, it reflects a form of modern-day patriotism: choosing to build, use, and scale our own capabilities. Because tech sovereignty is not something we declare. We practice it. Being an "ANT" means we don't just talk about potential. ANTs operationalise it. ANTs challenge ideas, validate them, and push them towards real adoption. Happy birthday, MRANTI!

My journey with the organisation began in October 1996, when it was still known as Technology Park Malaysia Corporation Sdn Bhd. Over nearly three decades, I have had the privilege of serving in various roles across multiple divisions, each experience shaping my growth both professionally and personally. From supporting the CEO to contributing in departments such as Venture Capital, Corporate Division, TPM Academy Sdn Bhd, Human Resources, Legal, Business Consultant Unit, Centre for Technology Commercialisation, TPM Engineering Sdn Bhd, and now the Finance Division, my career has been a continuous learning journey. Each transition brought new challenges, new people, and new perspectives that strengthened my adaptability and resilience. One of my most memorable experiences was during my time with TPM Academy. Being part of a twinning programme with Cal Poly Pomona, USA, I had the opportunity to engage with universities and colleges from around the world. Welcoming international guests and coordinating with diverse institutions broadened my perspective and strengthened my communication and organisational skills. What makes me proud to be an "ANT" is the sense of belonging and purpose. Despite the changes over the years, the spirit of collaboration and innovation has remained strong. I take pride in being part of a team that continuously strives to move forward, embracing change while honouring its roots. Looking back, it is not just the years that define my journey, but the people, experiences, and shared achievements that make it truly meaningful.

Thirty years ago, Technology Park Malaysia (TPM) was established as a strategic initiative to drive Malaysia into an innovation-led economy. Today, as we celebrate its 30th anniversary, we are commemorating a national platform which can boast of transforming ideas into impact. At Asia Pacific University, we have had a front-row seat to this evolution. The 2021 merger with MaGIC was a pivotal moment, transforming the park into the Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology and Innovation (MRANTI). This transition has strengthened the park's status as a 'living innovation platform'. For our university community, being co-located with specialised living labs for 5G, autonomous vehicles, and drone testing provides a world-class ecosystem where research can be validated in real-world environments. MRANTI Park is essential to navigating the 'Valley of Death' in technology commercialisation. By fostering collaboration among academia, industry, and the public sector, the park is uniquely positioned to support the Thirteenth Malaysia Plan. My vision for the future is continued synergy in which MRANTI nurtures high-impact ventures in AI, agritech, and green technologies. Together, we are creating a launchpad for knowledge workers who will generate billions in GDP and secure Malaysia's role as a regional technology leader. We look forward to the next 30 years of turning research and academic excellence into real-world impact through strong industry partnerships, while developing entrepreneurs who will benefit our country's economy and society.

We arrived at Technology Park Malaysia with a shared belief that ideas, when nurtured in the right environment, can grow beyond imagination. What began as a modest start has since evolved alongside the transformation into the MRANTI Park community, a living ecosystem defined by collaboration, innovation, and resilience. Within this park, we didn't just build a company; we built our journey. As a business, we evolved from serving smart townships to digitalising healthcare spaces with IoT and AI, adapting to where impact was most needed. We relocated three times, each move marking a new phase of growth. Here, we designed, developed, and manufactured our bWave IoT solution, turning concepts into real-world outcomes. More than infrastructure, the ecosystem provided something invaluable: visibility, credibility, and a launchpad for market access. MRANTI Park represents more than a physical space, it is a catalyst for possibility. It demonstrates how a thoughtfully cultivated ecosystem can empower startups to scale, innovate, and contribute meaningfully to Malaysia's digital future. When we started 1337 Ventures in 2012, Malaysia's startup ecosystem had energy everywhere. What it didn't have was belief. Belief that Malaysian founders could build real companies, win real customers, and compete beyond our borders. That's where MaGIC changed the game. It didn't just run programmes. It made the startup journey real. It gave founders a place to start, experiment, and be taken seriously. For us, MaGIC was a true partner in those early days. We built programmes together, worked with GLCs, and pushed into sectors like agritech, fintech, and healthtech. More importantly, we saw the moments that mattered. A founder landing their first real customer. A team realising this could actually work. That shift from idea to conviction is what builds an ecosystem. Today, MRANTI carries that same DNA at a much bigger scale. The ecosystem looks completely different now. More capital. Stronger founders. Corporates that are finally ready to move. Over the past 15 years, my journey with MRANTI, formerly known as Technology Park Malaysia, has been deeply personal. In 2011, Evenesis started from a small office at Level 1, IIC Resource Centre. Like many early-stage startups, we were navigating uncertainty with limited resources but big ambitions. Being in an MSC-status area made a real difference. Affordable rental gave us breathing room, and more importantly, a sense that we belonged in a space built for innovation. What truly stood out was the early support for commercialization. MRANTI didn't just house startups, it opened doors. Through its network and initiatives, we gained access to government agencies and ministries, helping us secure opportunities that would have otherwise been out of reach for a young company. As we grew, MRANTI also became a bridge to the world. From soft landing opportunities in Hong Kong to connections across Southeast Asia, it played a role in expanding our horizons beyond Malaysia. As MRANTI celebrates 30 years, my hope is that it continues to evolve, not just as a landlord, but as a true ecosystem provider. MRANTI has already been a catalyst for many of us. The next chapter is about amplifying that impact, for the next generation of innovators, and for Malaysia's future.

I started my own personal journey in the startup ecosystem in 1999 and over the last 27 years the ecosystem has matured from having only a handful of startups then to thousands today. Two things stand out for me. Firstly, the ecosystem has matured tremendously and today we have a thriving startup and tech ecosystem of founders, VC funds and a solid support structure from government agencies including MRANTI which has been supporting startups through MaGIC and now via TPM as well. This support from capability development to funding via grants and facilities has helped Malaysian startups to grow into successful regional and global players. The second is the renewed focus on commercialisation of university and research institute R&D. This has been a weak spot for Malaysia because it didn't really have a champion Agency backing it. MRANTI has now taken on this challenge and the renewed vigour and attention is necessary to make Malaysian academic and research institutions more commercially focused. I am heartened with the active role MRANTI is now playing and I believe the future is now brighter for higher levels of R&D commercialisation in Malaysia. I wish MRANTI every success in its endeavours to make Malaysia a shining light in the region when it comes to startups and R&D commercialisation.

At MIT Innovation, we have spent 16 years doing exactly that. We translate ideas into engineered solutions, manufacture them with utmost precision, and ultimately deploy our technologies offshore. With every stage connected, we move fast and deliver with confidence in high-risk environments such as oil and gas. A key enabler in our journey has been timely access to the right infrastructure. The strategic facility within MRANTI allowed us to establish our manufacturing base and scale our operations, which is critical in transforming engineering into deployable technologies. We also take great pride in our home-grown technologies. While they reflect Buatan Malaysia, a truer measure lies in them earning trust beyond our shores. Buatan Malaysia should serve more than a label. It should be a standard.

During my time steering Technology Park Malaysia (TPM), we laid the foundational pillars that drew in key technology-based companies in the ICT and engineering sectors. We were focused not just on providing space, but on deliberately building a comprehensive ecosystem. As policies evolved and new technologies emerged, we championed the expansion of support services, establishing the CNC Machining Centre, Biotechnology labs, and the Innovation Incubation Center to enhance our role in cultivating technopreneurs. To witness the evolution into MRANTI, following the strategic merger of TPM and MaGIC, is a source of immense pride. Today, MRANTI has solidified its role as the national innovation engine, demonstrating impressive scale and ambition. Looking ahead, my original hope remains more pertinent than ever: that MRANTI's role transcends merely facilitating technology commercialisation. By leveraging its foundation and new momentum, I hope to see MRANTI fully embrace its role as an active value-creator, ensuring MRANTI not only supports the ecosystem but actively drives Malaysia's future economic narrative.

I still remember when the idea of Technology Park Malaysia first took shape. I was entrusted with the task by the then Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, to develop TPM. At the time, Malaysia was beginning to recognise the importance of science, technology, and innovation as drivers of national development. With the full backing of Tun Mahathir, and the guidance of Tan Sri Professor Omar Abdul Rahman, then the Science Adviser to the Prime Minister, we began translating that idea into something real. The early days were very modest. TPM started operations in a two-storey shop lot in Bandar Tun Razak. We developed TPM as a multi-level ecosystem, allowing individuals to start small, with minimal barriers, and grow into larger innovation and enterprise platforms. Over time, this approach began to bear results, with organisations such as Astro, MMOS, IRIS Corporation and more forming part of the broader TPM ecosystem. One example that has always remained meaningful to me is APIIT, founded by Datuk Dr Paramjit Singh, who started as a small incubator tenant and steadily built what is today a global education group, now known as APU. Looking at what TPM has become today, it is clear that Malaysia has the capability to build and sustain its own innovation ecosystem. As TPM, now known as MRANTI, marks its 30 year anniversary, the responsibility is to continue this journey, strengthening what has been built, and ensuring that innovation contributes meaningfully to sustainable, inclusive and progressive national development.

I had the honour of leading the merger of Technology Park Malaysia and MaGIC, helping shape MRANTI in its formative chapter with a clear intention: not merely to combine entities, but to build a platform with greater strategic coherence, stronger commercialisation pathways, deeper ecosystem collaboration, and a more ambitious role in advancing national competitiveness. I remain proud of what we built in those early years, not only in structure, but in direction, purpose and belief. We set out to create an institution that could better connect ideas, talent, industry, capital and policy, helping make Malaysia not just a consumer of technology, but a nation of innovators, builders and producers of technology. As the former Secretary General of MOSTI, I had the privilege to witness and be part of their journey transforming a bold vision into a vibrant and impactful innovation ecosystem. MRANTI was established with the aspiration to bridge the gap between research and commercialisation, and today, MRANTI is bringing that vision into meaningful and measurable ways, guided by strong leadership from the Board, management team and continuous support from MOSTI. I have witnessed innovators, researchers, and industry players come together on a single platform, particularly during the National Innovation and Commercialisation Expo (NICE) 2025. It is through such platforms the true value of collaboration becomes evident and ideas are transformed into practical solutions with impact. MRANTI's progress did not happen instantaneously. It is a manifestation of sustained commitment, strategic partnerships and a shared belief that Malaysia has the talent and capability to lead in innovation and technology. Moving forward, I have confidence MRANTI will continue to grow, strengthen its role as a catalyst for innovation, enabling breakthroughs that will strengthen our economy and improve the well-being of our people. As I always believe, we should never resist change, give change a chance, or we risk becoming irrelevant.

Technology Park Malaysia was established with a clear vision, to create, nurture, and develop productivity-driven, technologically capable companies that contribute meaningfully to the nation's industrial and innovation landscape. It began as a focal agency dedicated to nurturing and guiding SMEs, particularly those supporting industries linked to MNCs and GLCs. This early foundation played a critical role in strengthening local enterprises, enabling them to build capabilities, integrate into larger value chains, and grow sustainably within Malaysia's evolving industrial ecosystem. Over time, TPM transformed into a fourth-generation incubation centre and technology park, expanding its role to facilitate the development of export-capable and high-growth companies. This transformation is reflected in its outcomes: nurturing hundreds of SMEs, with more than 10 companies achieving public listed status, while many others have successfully penetrated regional and global markets. As TPM transitions into its new identity as MRANTI and marks its 30-year milestone, it stands as a testament to Malaysia's long-standing commitment to innovation, technology, and enterprise development. I am proud to have been part of the leadership team that contributed to these achievements.
